Introducing the Egypt Citizenship by Investment Program

In March 2020, Egypt introduced a pioneering citizenship law, initiated in 2019, offering foreign investors an avenue to obtain citizenship through financial contributions. The government has established a dedicated unit to administer this Citizenship by Investment Program, aimed at attracting foreign direct investment.

Advantages of Egyptian Citizenship through Investment

Egypt stands out as the sole citizenship-by-investment destination providing visa-on-arrival access to Nigeria, a cornerstone economy in Africa's Top 5 wealthiest nations. Its strategic geographical location bridging Africa, Europe, and the Middle East enhances its appeal. Moreover, Egypt's membership in the African Continental Free Trade Area and the World Trade Organization underscores its commitment to global economic integration. With its robust transport infrastructure connecting key markets across Africa, Europe, the Indian subcontinent, and the Middle East, Egypt emerges as a pivotal commercial hub.

Further, Egyptian citizenship offers eligibility for an E-2 Investor Visa in the USA, facilitating access to non-immigrant visa opportunities.

Criteria for Obtaining Egyptian Citizenship through Investment

Aspiring citizens must meet specific investment thresholds, which include:

Donation: A non-refundable contribution of USD 250,000 to the state's public treasury.

Real Estate Investment: Investing USD 300,000 in government-owned real estate projects, allowing flexibility in property acquisition, whether under development or completed. Investors can opt to sell the property after five years.

Business Investment: A USD 350,000 investment in a local business, coupled with a USD 100,000 donation to the state's treasury. The business venture must be operational for at least five years.

Bank Deposit: Transferring USD 500,000, reimbursable in the local currency after three years, devoid of interest.

Application and Approval Process

Applicants must demonstrate good health and a clean criminal record.
All investments should be denominated in US dollars and remitted from overseas.
Donations and bank deposits are directed to a designated account within the Citizenship by Investment Unit at the Central Bank of Egypt.

The processing period spans from nine to twelve months, encompassing application submission to final approval. This comprehensive framework ensures transparency and efficiency in the citizenship acquisition process.
