Dominica suspends new applications from Yemeni nationals for the CBI Program
In an official communication distributed by the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CBIU) of the Commonwealth of Dominica to authorized agents, it has been declared that, effective January 19, 2024, the processing of new applications from Yemeni nationals for the Citizenship by Investment Program will be temporarily suspended.
The CBIU has clarified that this measure is implemented to protect the global community and uphold the integrity of Dominica's Citizenship by Investment Program.
Moreover, it is important to note that the existing prohibition on applications for Dominica's Citizenship by Investment Program now extends to individuals from Northern Iraq. Specifically, this includes residents from specified areas such as the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, covering cities like Erbil, Amedi, Dahuk, Kirkuk, Lalish, Raniya, Soran, Sulaymaniyah, and Zakho. Additionally, citizens of Russia and Belarus are also subject to this restriction, aligning with a prior decision by the Government of Dominica in March 2022 to halt the processing of applications from individuals belonging to these countries.
Furthermore, individuals from Sudan and North Korea are ineligible to apply for the program unless they fulfill specific conditions. These conditions involve residing in another country for more than 10 years, lacking substantial assets in those countries, and refraining from engaging in business or trade activities either within or in association with the aforementioned nations.
